New Sunday opening at Banqueting House

Date Posted: 29/05/2012

Banqueting House will be open to group visitors seven days a week from the 5th August following the announcement of a new Sunday opening.

The Historic Royal Palaces residence - the only surviving part of Whitehall Palace, and once Europe’s largest palace - will be available for group trips from 10am to 1pm.

Walk in the footsteps of a company of courtiers who once danced, drank and partied beneath the Rubens painted ceiling.

Created for court entertainments, the Banqueting House is perhaps most well known for the execution of Charles I in 1649.

Group travel organisers can combine a visit to London’s Banqueting House with nearby art galleries, including the National Portrait Gallery or the Courtauld Institute.

Located directly opposite Horseguards Parade, time your visit to coincide with the Changing of the Guard and visit the Household Cavalry Museum.

If you’re arranging a group trip to the Banqueting House, you can also schedule your visit to coincide with one of its lunchtime concert series, full details of which are available on the Historic Royal Palaces website.
