New Manchester Ship Canal Cruise

Date Posted: 23/03/2011

Mersey Ferries is set to launch a brand new ferry cruise this summer, with a Manchester Ship Canal Cruise sailing between Salford Quays and the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum.

With 12 cruises sailing between the 23rd June and 25th September, the new cruise will be staged in addition to the popular Ship Canal Cruises between Salford Quays and Liverpool.

Groups embarking at Telford Quay (Ellesmere Port) can combine a cruise with a visit to the Boat Museum, or enjoy a two and a half hour stopover at Salford Quays for the chance to visit The Lowry, Imperial War Museum or Lowry Outlet Mall. For cruises departing Salford Quays, groups can spend two hours at the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere.

Councillor Mark Dowd, chair of Merseytravel which owns and operates Mersey Ferries, commented: “These new cruises are a natural extension to our programme and brings together the perfect combination for a fabulous day out. The award-winning Ship Canal Cruises feature commentaries which explain how the canal shaped the industrial heritage of our region.”

Discounted rates are available for groups of 20 or more.
