New Magna Carta website with exhibition details go live

A new Magna Carta website has launched to tell visitors to Kent about the Magna Carta Rediscovered exhibition, which is touring towns and cities across the county from the end of May.

A new website,, has been launched by Visit Kent that details all Magna Carta based events happening in Kent, including the Magna Carta Rediscovered touring exhibition, which is to begin on 23rd May at The Alexander Centre, Faversham.

Using interactive technology, the exhibition will commemorate Magna Carta’s links to the Garden of England, bringing artefacts and untold stories of intrigue, battles and bravery to groups visiting the county.

Below are the dates and venues for the Magna Carta Rediscovered exhibition:

23rd May to 28th June     -     The Alexander Centre, Faversham
2nd to 19th July        -     Beaney House of Art and Knowledge, Canterbury
25th July to 6th Sept    -     The Kent History and Library Centre, Maidstone
10th Sept to 19th Sept    -      Maison Dieu, Dover
24th Sept to 6th Oct    -     Jury Room, Guildhall, Sandwich
10th Oct to 6th Dec    -     Rochester Cathedral

Groups visiting the exhibition will be able to see the 1300 Faversham Magna Carta, which will be on public display for the first time in 715 years and is what some leading scholars credit as one of the most important Magna Carta artefacts in existence.

The website will also provide the background to Magna Carta’s legacy, information on each of the host venues, as well as other events such as weekend-long fairs, conferences, concerts and debates taking place.
