New Cornish attraction celebrates aviation

Date Posted: 17/10/2012

Classic Air Force, opening on 23rd March in Newquay, promises to be one of the world’s largest collections of iconic aircraft from the 1950s and 1960s.

The all-weather aircraft museum will be home to a fleet of flying historic aircraft, which include one of the largest operational fleets of vintage jets in the UK.

Groups will be able to see and touch the aeroplanes up-close, and even fly in some of them.

Vintage aircraft on display

The fleet of vintage jets will include what is described as the world’s only airworthy Gloster Meteor Night Fighter, along with de Havilland Vampire and Venom jet fighters, and a Canberra WK163 jet bomber.

Rubbing shoulders with these historically important jets is a collection of classic transport; airliner, training and liaison types of aircraft.

Vehicles range from 1930s Dragon Rapide biplanes, the Douglas Dakota, Avro Anson and iconic Chipmunk – which group travel organisers can loop-the-loop in.

Something for everyone

The interactive attraction promises an enjoyable day out for groups of all ages. Its packed programme of aviation adventures includes: taxiing rides, maintenance demonstrations, engine starts, pleasure flights and thrill rides.

A minimum group discount of ten per cent will be available.
