Agatha Christie exhibition

National Museum Cardiff is to illustrate the life behind the works of Agatha Christie from 17th June to 3rd September, in an exhibition featuring rarely seen photographs from the author’s private collection.

The exhibition will be open from 10am every day apart from Mondays, with last admissions at 4pm, and forms part of Visit Wales 2017 Year of Legends.

About the exhibition

Agatha Christie: A Life in Photographs will see the author’s family photos give a unique insight into her life, showing the real Christie as an energetic and adventurous young woman.

Images include Christie surfing on a Muizenberg beach in South Africa and roller-skating down Torquay pier.

A timeline will sit alongside the pictures and mark the key milestones in her life, including the first performance of the world’s longest running play, The Mousetrap, as well as the publication of works such as Murder on the Orient Express and And Then There Were None.

As Christie was a frequent visitor to Wales, part of the exhibition is dedicated to a photograph album of her at Pwllywrach, as well as a first edition of Endless Night, a story set on a road outside Cardiff that was inspired by a local legend in 1967.
