Mike Bartlett's King Charles III to embark on a UK tour this autumn

Theatre lovers can choose from a variety of UK theatre venues presenting the award-winning production of King Charles III this autumn.

Following sell-out runs at the Almeida Theatre in Islington and in the West End, the play is set to open at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre on 4th September, and will close on 7th December at Plymouth Theatre Royale. Other featured locations on the tour include Theatre Royale in Newcastle, the Arts Theatre in Cambridge, and the Edinburgh Festival Theatre.

King Charles III will be directed by Rupert Goold and has been written by Mike Bartlett, who previously collaborated on Earthquakes in London and Decade.

Bartlett’s other plays include An Intervention, Artefacts, Love, Love, Love, and most recently Game.

Synopsis

The play is set to explore the dilemmas faced by Prince Charles as he ascends the throne after the Queen dies. Mike Bartlett's play considers the people underneath the crowns, the conscience of Britain's most famous family, and the unwritten rules of democracy.

Starring film, television and stage actor Robert Powell in the lead role, King Charles III has been awarded the Olivier Award, Critics Choice and South Bank Sky Arts Award for Best New Play.
