Marathon walks take in Europe’s capital highlights

Explore some of Europe’s most exciting capital cities, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris and Edinburgh, on a Discover Adventure 26-mile city marathon walk.

Promising an innovative and exhilarating way to explore these European capitals, each walk is led by an experienced guide and takes in a combination of must-see and lesser-known sights during one day of a weekend group trip.

  • Barcelona (departing 10th May): A mix of coast and hills, this trek starts by Barceloneta Beach and ventures through the Gothic Quarter to the shady wooded hills behind the city and the mountain of Montjüic.
  • Edinburgh (departing 7th June): Explore the rich history, culture and majestic views of Edinburgh, journeying up Arthur’s Seat and venturing east to Leith before passing the medieval Old Town, Castle and Royal Mile in the city centre.
  • Paris (departing 12th July): A visual treat for hikers taking in the many iconic landmarks of the French capital, the trek begins and ends at the Eiffel Tower, and takes in the atmosphere of Bastille Weekend.
  • Amsterdam (departing 30th August): A dream for rambling groups, renowned for its flat terrain and canals, narrow streets and bridges, sights en route include Anne Frank’s House, the red-light district, the Latin quarter of De Pijp and the floating flower market.
