Tourists with the Chester Tourist Map

A new map leaflet for Chester has just been launched by the Chester Attractions Partnership, and shines a spotlight on a number of city attractions to inspire those seeking a Chester-based itinerary.

The new publication features a host of famous city landmarks as well 24 popular attractions located in and around Chester.

The map leaflet has been designed to ‘inspire visitors from across the world to explore the city at their leisure’. It depicts some of the best known locations with specially commissioned hand-drawn illustrations.

The publication also includes a brief description of Chester's history including the Roman occupation, the Norman invasion and the Civil War siege.

Where on the map should groups visit?

Among the attractions featured in the new leaflet are Chester Cathedral and its falconry and nature gardens; the Grosvenor Museum; ChesterBoat; and the Grosvenor Shopping Centre.

St John's Church, The Mill Hotel & Spa Restaurant Boat, Grosvenor Park Miniature Railway, Dewa Roman Experience and Chester Indoor Market are also on there.

Group travel organisers might like to pick and choose from the locations and put together their own Chester itinerary.

For example, Chester Cathedral, which was founded as a Benedictine abbey in 1092, can be explored in a morning via a guided tour of the grounds, followed by a falconry experience and lunch. An afternoon could be spent cruising along the banks of Chester with ChesterBoat, which can cater for groups of between 20 and 120 guests at a time.

Groups can also take inspiration from the map for trips outside the city. Blakemere Village, Cheshire Falconry, Cheshire Outdoors, and The Ice Cream Farm as well as Busybus, which provides sightseeing trips to North Wales and the Lake District from Chester, are depicted on the new map.

Where can you find the map?

The new map leaflet is available from over 80 outlets in and around Chester including attractions, hotels and cafes plus the Tourist Information Centre at the Town Hall, the Chester Bus Interchange and the Little Roodee Cafe – popular with coach parties.

Additionally, the Chester Attractions Partnership has just commissioned a new website which will be launched in the coming months. It will include a PDF of the new map leaflet for visitors to download and print-off – so GTOS should keep their eyes peeled.
