Coronation Street The Tour

Group travel organisers and representatives from group travel providers converged on Ena Mill in Atherton on Monday 23rd November to share ideas and lock down future plans for group travel.

Group Leisure was the official media partner for the Group Travel Marketplace event, which was organised by Steve Reed Tourism Ltd.

The day started with a showcase, in which regional travel companies with a tailored group offering set up stands to chat to visiting GTOs about their latest products and deals.

Visitor attractions, tour operators and tourist boards were all present, including See It, Do It Sunderland, period property Hutton in the Forest, and Warner Leisure.

The Lake District’s newest visitor attraction, The Lakes Distillery, meanwhile, was giving away tasters of its home-brewed gin, whiskey and vodka, to warm visitors up on what was one of the coldest days of 2015 so far in the north west. 

Lunch and mince pies were served around 1pm, then GTOs were able to take part in a fam visit to nearby Coronation Street The Tour.

Visitors were joined on their fam by former Coronation Street actress Jeni Williams who played Sheila Hayes in 2001.

The Marketplace was the second of three events that will take place around the UK in 2015 and 2016.

The next will take place in Stratford upon Avon on Monday 21st March at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and will include a fam visit to Compton Verney House and Estate.
