MSC Cruises has revealed its plans for two new Meraviglia-Plus ships, which will be due for delivery in October 2019 and September 2020.
The announcement was made at the coin ceremony for the MSC Meraviglia in Saint-Nazaire, France.
The new Meraviglia-Plus ships are set to be larger in size and have an increased tonnage in comparison to MSC Cruises’ previous ships. At 331 metres long and with a total of 2,444 cabins, the two ships will have a maximum capacity for nearly 6,300 guests.
Entertainment
The public spaces in the ships will be filled with boutiques, restaurants, shops and areas for socialising, whilst there will also be a 111 metre long interior promenade with a 95 metre long LED sky screen above it which will beam out visual displays and vistas to animate the entire promenade 24 hours of the day.
Moreover, the two ships will house the first classic and contemporary fine art museum at sea. MSC Cruises has teamed up with cultural centres, classic and modern art museums and public and private institutions from around the world to create this industry-first feature, which will enable groups to see global artwork whilst on their cruise.
The company has also recently agreed a partnership with Cirque du Soleil, which will bring theatrical shows to the company in purpose-built dining and entertainment venues.
Additionally, the Meraviglia and Meraviglia-Plus ships will offer next-generation technology, in partnership with Samsung. It will provide the ships with mobile solutions, medical equipment and products for enhanced reality experiences.
MSC Cruises is the world’s largest privately owned cruise line. The two new ships will be worth €1.6 billion and will be able to call at all world cruise ports.
