Latin carnival sweeps Liverpool

Latin fever is set to sweep Liverpool this summer as the city hosts Brazilica, a new international Brazilian carnival event, taking place from the 15th to 17th July.

Inspired by the carnivals which take place across Brazil during the weekend before the start of Lent, this three-day event taking place across the city centre promises a Rio-style Brazilian samba carnival exploding with life, music and dazzling costumes.

The carnival extravaganza starts on Friday 15th July, with a Samba in the City event hosted by the city centre shops and bars. With a host of activities and events planned for the Saturday, groups can enjoy a free all-day South American street party with open dance classes, music sessions, street football demonstrations and workshops, plus Brazilian food and drink. Carrying on into the evening, a carnival parade of more than 1,000 people will make its way to the festival site, with Brazilian bands and DJs taking to the stage as the party begins. The carnival adds a cultural twist to the final day, with sports, film and artistic events taking place across the city on Sunday 17th July.
