Lakeland Motor Museum has confirmed it will be opening its doors for special evening events, following interest from groups looking for a more unusual venue to host private functions.
The museum features a collection of 30,000 exhibits, including 150 classic cars and motorbikes that have been carefully assembled over 50 years.
Inside, visitors can also find a re-created 1920’s garage, an exhibition on fashion from the late 1800s to the early 1970s and a 1950’s café recreation.
Private or corporate groups of between 20 and 100 people can book two hour slots inside the museum, after hours, with the option to add catering from Café Ambio next door.
The café, which is situated on the banks of the River Leven, uses locally sourced food in its dishes when possible.
Director of the Lakeland Motor Museum, Edwin Maher, commented, “In recent months, we have noticed a definite upturn in groups wanting a completely different type of venue for special events. As we continue to grow as a business, these special evening openings allow us to offer more flexibility and give people an exclusive experience in a genuinely unique location.”

Lakeland Motor Museum is close to a number of other attractions that are suitable for groups.
Itineraries in the area can include Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, which is a heritage railway featuring a gift shop, restaurant and engine shed on sight, and the World of Beatrix Potter, a family attraction that brings Beatrix Potter’s stories to life.
Also nearby is Windermere Lake Cruises, which offers a variety of different cruises around the popular lake, from a 45-minute circular Island Cruise to a 70 to 75 minute Red Cruise that sails from Bowness to Ambleside or vice versa.
Evening venue hire rates begin at £140 for a group of 20 for a 6pm to 8pm slot, excluding catering.
