Joint Group Offer Announced For Falmouth %7C Group Travel News %7C Falmouth

Pendennis Castle and National Maritime Museum Cornwall have teamed up to announce a new offer for groups visiting Falmouth.

The two attractions are now offering an exclusive package to groups which will allow visitors entry into both attractions for just £15.

There’s just a five minute drive – or 15 minute walk – between the two attractions with coach parking available at each.

Pendennis Castle was constructed by Henry VIII and has defended Cornwall against foreign invasion since the Tudor times. Groups can discover how the castle has evolved over the years, or they can visit the new exhibition which focuses on the role of the castle as part of Fortress Falmouth during World War One.

The Fortress Falmouth and the First World War exhibition, focuses on the castle’s role during the 1914 to 1918 conflict and includes displays of letters, photos and artefacts from that period.

There are free guided tours offered at the castle, which includes views from the roof of the keep, the gun decks and a peek at the governor’s private rooms. There’s also the Half Moon Battery Tour where visitors can experience what life would have been like during a wartime raid.

A visit to The National Maritime Museum, meanwhile, includes entry to the Viking Voyagers exhibition, which will reveal the secret to the Vikings’ success.

Groups can explore the truth behind the popular myth of the raiders as bloodthirsty raiders and can get up close to antiques on loan from the British Museum and others.

Other attractions at the museum include the lookout tower, the tidal zone and Cornwall galleries. The tidal zone, for example, will give groups the chance to ‘go underwater’ and look out into the harbour to see what’s going on beneath the waters.

The museum aims to promote the understanding of boats and their place in people’s lives, and the maritime heritage of Cornwall.
