Historic unveiling at the NRM

York’s National Railway Museum (NRM) has announced a jam-packed schedule of exciting events and historic unveilings next year.

Marking the tenth anniversary of welcoming the Japanese bullet train into the national collection, the museum will be hosting a Japan Festival from the 9th to 24th April. Visiting groups can experience a touch of the Orient, with music, dance and martial arts performances, plus a variety of hands-on workshops.

Following its restoration, the Flying Scotsman will be on display in the Museum’s Great Hall from the 28th to 30th May, alongside a series of talks and tours to welcome home this historic locomotive. Due to be officially unveiled in all its glory during the summer months, the Flying Scotsman will then begin its operating schedule on the mainline.

Groups visiting throughout the summer will also have the opportunity to visit the NRM’s new art gallery. Promising an exciting programme of temporary exhibitions, the space will showcase the museum’s unseen art collection and works from across the world, inspired by the railways.

A variety of benefits are available for groups planning a visit to the NRM, including special offer vouchers and coach parking.
