Hever Castle hosts Mediterranean Weekend

Date Posted: 05/06/2011

Hever Castle in Kent is set to host its Mediterranean Weekend on the 3rd and 4th September.

Groups are invited to enjoy the castle’s award-winning gardens which - with the combination of Italian statuary, topiary and colourful planting - promise an ideal backdrop for the Mediterranean Weekend.

Offering group members design inspiration and the chance to learn which exotic plants can be grown in their own gardens, including chillies, olives and citrus fruits, Hever Castle’s gardeners will be on-hand throughout the weekend to offer hints and tips.

There will also be the opportunity to explore the castle’s Italian Garden, designed to house a remarkable collection of Roman and Renaissance statuary and sculpture - with some pieces reportedly more than 2,000 years old; as well as the 12-foot high Pompeiian Wall, which provides a backdrop for a series of individually planted gardens.
