Group Outlander experiences launched in Edinburgh

Date Posted: 10/04/2015

The Edinburgh Outlander Experience will bring hit US television series Outlander to life, during a walking tour on the streets of the city.

Mercat tours has launched a series of new guided walks that take groups to the key locations from the show Outlander.

The tour will feature places used in the American series, which is based on the bestselling books by Diana Gabaldon.

There will be visits to Canongate Kirk, the palace of Holyroodhouse, Holyrood Abbey and the World’s End Tavern. Plus the guides will recount stories of witchcraft, tales of the Jacobites, and explain how the fictional story of Outlander intermingles with true history.

If you’re not already familiar with the show, the historical fantasy series launched in the UK on Amazon Prime last month. It follows the story of English combat nurse, Claire Randall who is mysteriously transported from 1946 to the 18th century Scottish Highlands where she meets handsome young warrior Jamie Fraser.

The Edinburgh Outlander Experience will begin at 11am every Saturday from April to October. Private group bookings are also available.
