The Historial de la Grande Guerre in Peronne, France has unveiled major new temporary exhibition, Missing of the Somme, now open until the end of November.

Coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the Thiepval Memorial and the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Historial, the theme of the exhibition is remembrance. Providing background to the memorial and how these men became and remain ‘The Missing of the Somme’, entry is free.

The focus of the exhibition is the story of an individual recorded as missing on each of 141 days of the Battle of the Somme. Each narrative will be supplemented by personal objects, letters and memoirs. Missing of the Somme will also explore how the fate of these men affected society for many years afterwards.
