Fascinating Mummies at The National Museum of Scotland

Date Posted: 21/08/2011

The National Museum of Scotland has recently announced the arrival of a new exhibition taking place from the 3rd February. Running until the 27th May, Fascinating Mummies reveals the complex rituals surrounding death and the afterlife 2,000 years ago.

Artefacts discovered in graves and tombs reveal a lot about the past, but they are only part of the story - it is the mummies themselves that offer information on how people lived and died in ancient Egypt. Modern technologies have enabled scientists and archaeologists to develop their knowledge of Egyptian illnesses, eating habits and living conditions.

Groups planning a visit to the National Museum of Scotland can take advantage of special guided tours on a wide range of subjects.
