Date Posted: 01/11/2012

AmaWaterways river cruise line is set to send its new luxury cruiser, the AmaVida, down the river Douro in Portugal in 2013.

With two cruises to choose from with departure dates between March and November, guests will find gourmet dining, balconies in their cabins, and a fitness centre and spa on board.

The Enticing Douro

Group travel organisers can choose between a seven-night trip, or a ten-night land-cruise holiday on The Enticing Douro cruise.

Guests taking the ten-night trip will spend three nights in Lisbon with five-star hotel accommodation.

The AmaVida will then embark in Porto to cruise to Régua, Barc d’Alva, Vega Terrón, Pinhão and Bitetos.

The cruise holiday also includes complimentary excursions to the Trás-os-Montes region, Salamanca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the 14th century Alpendurada Monastery.

Port Wine and Flamenco

This is a 13-night land-cruise holiday, commencing with three nights in Madrid.

The AmaVida then cruises down the Douro between the Spanish border town of Vega Terrón and the northern capital of Portugal, Porto, before concluding with a three night stay in Lisbon.

Guests will visit the small town of Pinhão, then venture to Trás-os-Montes, Bitetos and Porto.
