Downton Abbey’s Zoe Boyle stars in new WYP production

Downton Abbey star Zoe Boyle will play the role of Maggie The Cat in West Yorkshire Playhouse’s new production of Tennessee Williams’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Most recently seen on the ITV drama playing Lavinia Swire, Zoe Boyle will star opposite Jamie Parker as disillusioned ex-footballer Brick.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof will play at West Yorkshire Playhouse from 6th to 27th October.

Tennessee Williams’s depiction of a family tearing at the very fabric of their relationships is set on an oppressively hot summer evening in the Mississippi delta.

The Pollitt family has gathered to celebrate the 65th birthday of Big Daddy, a dynamic patriarch and owner of one of the largest plantations in the south.

As the party moves up to the bedroom of handsome and troubled ex-footballer Brick and his wife Maggie, the ghosts of this dysfunctional family are exorcised, lies are exposed and uncomfortable truths unearthed, as the simmering pain of this emotionally-charged drama comes bubbling to the surface.
