Damien Lewis to star in American Buffalo in London's West End

Date Posted: 15/12/2014

The homeland star will take on the role of Walter ‘Teach’ Cole in the West End revival of this Seventies’ play.

Opening at the Wyndham's Theatre in April, the drama examines the fickle nature of honour among thieves.

The plot focuses on three small-time crooks, including Walter Cole, as their plan to carry out a big-time heist goes wrong.

The script for American Buffalo was written by David Mamet in 1975 and went on to win the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for best play. In 1996 it was adapted into a film starring Dustin Hoffman.

Damian Lewis said: “David Mamet is one of our greatest living playwrights and I’m thrilled to be performing in his brilliant American Buffalo.

“It’s exciting for me to be back on stage, particularly as I will have the pleasure of working with director, Daniel Evans, who I trained with at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

“We’ve always wanted to work together and I really can’t think of a more exciting project to partner on.”

Groups of ten or more can get discounts on theatre tickets on performances between Monday and Thursday.
