Dahl’s Writing Hut to open

Date Posted: 01/11/2011

A gallery at the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Buckinghamshire is being transformed early next year to accommodate the author’s Writing Hut.

Scheduled to open in March, Dahl wrote some of his best-known stories from the hut, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, The Twits and James and the Giant Peach. Groups will have the chance to view a host of eclectic personal treasures, including the author’s hipbone, relics from his travels, family photographs and postcards.

Pre-booked groups of 15 or more people visiting the museum will receive a ten per cent discount on the admission fee, and can enjoy a one-hour guided Village Trail to visit some of the places that inspired the much-loved children’s author, many of which feature in his stories.
