Curtain up at Yorkshire’s newest theatre

Date Posted: 05/02/2015

ERT, the East Riding Theatre, in the Medieval town of Beverley, is now open for business.

The creation of ERT has involved some pretty high profile names. Hollywood star Vincent Regan – famous for films like 300 and Clash of the Titans – was one of the driving forces behind the theatre’s development.

The actor and director has made his home in east Yorkshire, and was one of the champions of the project. Plus, Dame Judy Dench has become the theatre’s patron.

The new venue, created inside a former Baptist chapel, will bring theatre back to Beverley after a break of almost two centuries – there was theatre in the town in Georgian times.

The line-up for the theatre already features comedy, drama and workshops.
