Coronation celebrations at Hever Castle

Date Posted: 03/03/2012

With the impending Diamond Jubilee festivities, Hever Castle in Kent is to host a new exhibition revisiting the Coronation celebrations of one of its most famous occupants, Anne Boleyn.

Those organising a group trip to the castle between 1st March and 18th October can experience A Royal Romance, aiming to give visitors a feel for the pomp and splendour of a royal coronation in Tudor times. A series of illustrated panels follows the route of the Coronation Procession, also describing the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

Exhibition highlights includes a replica of Anne Boleyn’s coronation gown. Groups will also hear an entertaining soundtrack of ‘court whispers’ telling of the intrigue and gossip surrounding Henry VIII’s tempestuous relationship with his second wife.

Group travel organisers planning a visit to the childhood home of Anne Boleyn should note that discounted admission rates are available for parties of 15 plus, and private garden tours can also be arranged.
