Compton Verney’s autumn exhibition programme

Date Posted: 17/08/2011

Compton Verney is to host two new exhibitions for the autumn season.

Quentin Blake - As large as life and Remember, remember: A history of fireworks in Britain will both run at the Warwickshire art gallery from the 15th October to 11th December.

Quentin Blake - As large as life will bring together more than 60 of the popular illustrator’s works. Britain’s first children’s laureate has recently been commissioned by hospitals in the UK and abroad to produce works which have a therapeutic effect on patients and residents. Groups visiting the exhibition will have the chance to explore these works and experience their effects for themselves.

Remember, remember: A history of fireworks in Britain aims to explore the UK’s 5th November celebrations through the history of fire festivals, the gunpowder plot of 1605, and the vivid advertising and packing of domestic fireworks from the 20th century.

Groups planning a visit to Compton Verney can enjoy a host of benefits, including discounted rates, plus tours and catering options.
