Charlie and the Chocolate Factory takes to the stage

The musical of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is set to open at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in June 2013.

Tickets go on sale in October, and the show will be running from June to November.

Douglas Hodge to play Wonka

Award winning stage actor Douglas Hodge will be playing Willy Wonka in the world premiere of the stage adaptation.

Hodge has previously worked at the National Theatre, the RSC, Shakespeare’s Globe, and the Royal Court Theatre.

He is currently starring on Broadway in the American Airlines Theatre before taking on the role of Willy Wonka next summer.

When Charlie wins a golden ticket to visit Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory, his life is about to change.

Audiences can enjoy ingenious stagecraft as well as music by Marc Shaiman and costume by Mark Thompson.

The musical is produced by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Neal Street Productions and Kevin McCormick.
