Date Posted: 03/12/2010

A new exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, Cornwall, will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Falmouth Docks.

The docks have been an industrial hub since their creation in the mid-19th century, with Falmouth being used as a harbour for more than 2,000 years. The exhibition, now open until the 30th March, promises a legacy to what the docks have achieved.

Visiting groups can view models, film, objects, paintings and photography, exploring the fascinating history of the docks, with a special focus on its heyday in the 1950s. A new space at the National Maritime Museum features floor to ceiling windows, enabling visitors to see the hustle and bustle of the docks at work today, while the exhibition showcases its past.

Groups of ten or more people planning a trip to the museum can take advantage of discounted rates, specialised tours and fast-track entry.
