Carnforth Station Heritage Centre and Leighton Hall in Carnforth, Lancashire, have joined forces to offer a new day out for groups.
Four miles apart, the two attractions now offer a day out whereby groups can explore the heritage centre flowed by a visit to the period property.
The package begins with visitors arriving at Carnforth Station Heritage Centre at 10.30am.
The group can explore a range of exhibition areas, including two Age of Steam galleries that show what Carnforth was like in the 1960s through a selection of artworks, photographs and memorabilia.
There will also be time to visit the centre’s retail outlet, before taking refreshments. Fans of the film Brief Encounter might recognise the refreshments room, which was used during the making of the film and has been restored back to the style of the 1940s.
Groups will then get back on their coach (not included in the package) and head to Leighton Hall.
This period property dates back to 1246, and is still lived in today. The library, music room, dining room and drawing room each have their own ‘personality’, while the ‘flying staircase’ in the entrance hall is said to be a fine example of early Gothic revival architecture.
Afternoon tea, a guided house tour and a birds of prey display awaits groups at Leighton Hall, and there will be time to explore the Leighton Hall gardens.
The new combined attraction itinerary is available all year round to groups of 25 or more and must be pre-booked.
