Bristol Hippodrome launches new group dining option

Date Posted: 03/06/2016

Groups booked in to see a show at Bristol Hippodrome can now extend their experience with a meal at the theatre’s new restaurant – the Hanover Street Bistro.

The new eatery is located inside The Piano Bar and group bookings can be made for parties of between ten and 36.

The bistro opens two and a half hours before performances begin, for both matinee and evening shows.

Groups can choose to have dishes from an ‘express menu’ or sit down to a three-course meal.

The menu features everything from pasta and slider burgers to Scottish salmon. Example desserts, meanwhile, include a chocolate ice cream cake.

Neil Chandler, general manager of The Bristol Hippodrome commented “We are thrilled that we can now offer our patrons this service within the theatre prior to watching a show.

“We hope that the menu offering three courses and featuring platters, burgers, bangers and mash and pizza in a comfortable and stylish setting will mean our patrons can relax knowing their theatre seats are only a short stroll away”.

What’s on at Bristol?

Bristol Hippodrome hosts a number of major touring productions.

Between 19th and 24th September, Sister Act will take to its stage, starring Alexandra Burke.

The highly anticipated musical adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s will be staged between 26th September and 1st October, starring Pixie Lott.

Plus Billy Elliot will take place at the theatre on 25th and 26th October.

Bristol Hippodrome also features comedy, opera, dance and plays in its line-up.

100 years of history

Bristol Hippodrome first opened in 1912. Its opening show Sands O’Dee saw 100,000 gallons of water poured onto its stage.

In 1948 the theatre was gutted by a fire so fierce it has 30 foot tall flames.

Its longest running show to date is Phantom of the Opera, which was staged for 138 days.
