Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire will play host to BBC Countryfile Live this summer, offering groups plenty of outdoor events and activities to enjoy.

The countryside event will take place from 4th to 7th August, and will combine the tradition of the UK’s best country fairs with the presentations of the popular television programme (which airs weekly on BBC One and reports on rural and environmental issues in the UK).

Visitors to the event can explore many aspects of rustic life through live arena shows, talks and hands-on activities like fishing, canoeing and pond-dipping.

Groups will also be able to see animal displays and farming in action, plus enjoy shopping at stalls from over 600 food and craft producers. A British pub garden will be recreated as well.

Countryfile shows

The centre-piece of BBC Countryfile Live will be a show in the main arena at Blenheim. The arena shows, taking place each day, are described as ‘theatrical celebrations of the very best that rural Britain has to offer.’

Visitors will learn about how farming has transformed the UK landscape and brought food to the table for generations.

There will also be a central ring area where a number of different demonstrations will take place across the weekend, including lots of animals in action.

Highlights include the Dog and Duck Show, during which sheepdogs will be put through their paces.

Audiences can also enjoy falconry demonstrations, be amused by the antics of the ferrets and polecats, and get close to shire horses.
