Behind the scenes at Burton Agnes Hall

Date Posted: 21/03/2015

See how the other half really lives on two new tours of the Yorkshire stately home.

As much as Burton Agnes Hall is a popular visitor attraction, it is also a family home to the Cunliffe-Lister family, who are inviting visitors to go ‘behind the scenes’.

Two new tours will take you through the keyhole to reveal everything, from where the Cunliffe-Lister family members rest their heads to the secrets of the potting shed.

Garden Tours

The first tour invites visitors to spend an afternoon exploring the grounds with the head gardener Jeremy Palmer.

A ‘Twilight Garden Tour’ will be held on the evenings of Thursday 18th June and Thursday 9th July which includes a meal.

Home Tours

The second tour explores the Elizabethan hall with head guide, Pauline Waslin.

Pauline will take visitors on a journey to discover how the hall has developed, allowing a rare ‘behind the scenes’ look at the family’s living quarters, which are not usually open to the public.
