Avalon Waterways' new river cruising features

Date Posted: 07/06/2012

Avalon Waterways is introducing a host of new features to its 2013 river cruising programme, including a variety of sightseeing and dining options, plus new itineraries.

Sightseeing will now be offered at three different levels:

• Leisurely Sightseeing: Led by a certified local guide showing the destination’s highlights in a relaxed and unhurried way.
• Traditional Sightseeing: Led by a certified local guide exploring a wide range of sights at a moderate pace.
• Essential Sightseeing: Will show the must-see sights with plenty of time for groups to explore on their own.

Alternative options will also be available for special-interest groups.

A new dining experience for 2013 is the option of taking a lighter dinner menu, featuring regional specialities and wines in the Panorama Bistro.

This alternative is offered alongside meals in the main dining room or the outdoor Sky Bistro on the Sky Deck.

In addition to these features - which aim to offer a flexible approach to river cruising - the operator will also launch two new suite ships in May; the Avalon Expression and Avalon Artistry II.

Avalon Artistry II will sail the eight-day Romantic Rhine, whilst Avalon Expression will sail the 13-day Blue Danube Discovery, 15-day Magnificent Europe, and the 11-day Legendary Danube.

Additional new river cruise holidays for groups include the 13-day Highlights of Germany; the nine-day Austrian Highlights & Bavaria; the ten-day capitals of Central Europe; and the eight-day Tulips of Northern Holland.
