Anglo-Saxon treasure unveiled in Teesside

Date Posted: 12/07/2011

A collection of Anglo-Saxon treasure is to be showcased for the first time in an exhibition at Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar. The artefacts found in Loftus, said to be the only known Anglo-Saxon royal burial site in north-east England, have been hailed by archaeologists as some of the rarest ever discovered.

The display will offer visiting groups a glimpse into life in Anglo-Saxon times. A film narrated by Teesside-born actor Stephen Tompkinson will be shown, while a 360-degree image of the excavation site can be viewed. Group members can dress up in costume and decorate replica jewels and pots.
