Following its successful run in the West End, American Idiot will begin a UK tour from 19th March, starting at the Curve Theatre in Leicester.

The musical is a sung-through stage adaption of Green Day’s album of the same name, with the storyline being expanded from the album.

The show features the music of the rock band and tells the story of three friends – Johnny, Will and Tunny - searching for meaning in the world after 9/11.
Within the story, Johnny and Tunny flee their suburban lifestyle in search of something more, whilst Will stays at home upon discovering his girlfriend is pregnant.

It includes hit songs such as Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends, 21 Guns, Holiday and title song American Idiot.

Although the band do not appear in the production, vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong has performed the role St Jimmy occasionally during past runs.
American Idiot will tour at Manchester, Cardiff, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Exeter, Sunderland and Glasgow with further dates to be announced.

It will star X Factor contestant Amelia Lily, who will reprise her role as Whatshername once more and is directed and choreographed by Racky Plews.
