Afghanistan visits Dorset

Date Posted: 16/04/2011

The Tank Museum, in Dorset, recently launched a new exhibition titled Battleground Afghanistan, which tells the story behind the Royal Armoured Corps.

Having been engaged in combating the insurgency in Afghanistan, the display will feature personal stories that describe the purpose, day-to-day activities and feelings of a modern soldier at war.

Visiting groups will enter the base and find themselves surrounded by the Afghan desert landscape, where they will be immersed in the daily sights and sounds of life on operations. There is equipment to explore, such as a selection of large armoured combat vehicles, which is accompanied by a thought-provoking front-line film telling tales of bravery.

Groups of ten or more people planning a visit to The Tank Museum can take advantage of discounted admission rates, in addition to talks and guided tours.
