A year of celebration and sport at Shugborough

Date Posted: 25/03/2012

Shugborough has re-opened its doors for the 2012 season, and promises a packed programme of seasonal highlights, special events and two new year-long exhibitions for visiting groups.

Gearing itself up to join in the nation’s festivities for the Diamond Jubilee and Olympic Games, the historic estate in Staffordshire, will stage Celebration, a costume display in the servants’ quarter; and Sport at Shugborough, showcasing sporting activities at the estate through the centuries. Both exhibitions are now open until the 28th October, and are included in the general admission price.

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations will continue at Shugborough between 25th May and 30th June with Jubilee, a collection of photographs of HRH The Queen taken by Patrick Lichfield, along with the robes worn by his grandparents at the Queen’s coronation.

Event highlights include Jubilee Day on the 5th June, with group visitors urged to come dressed as a prince, princess, king or queen. An Olympics themed weekend is also planned for the 21st and 22nd July.

Shugborough offers a variety of benefits to those organising group travel for parties of 15 plus, with discounted rates, coach parking, catering options, and free entry for the group travel organiser.
