London’s Design Museum has unveiled its schedule of exhibitions for 2012.

The first exhibition of the New Year will aim to showcase some of the world’s most innovative and progressive designs for architecture, fashion, furniture, graphics, digital, transport and product. Designs of the Year 2012 will run from 8th February to 15th July.

An exhibition dedicated to Christian Louboutin is scheduled to run from 28th March to 1st July. Promoted as the first comprehensive presentation of the French designer’s works in the UK, it will explore how Louboutin has transformed the design of the shoe, profiling his creative approach.

Design vs Sport running from the 18th July to 18th November will examine how design has helped athletes break records and push the boundaries of what was previously thought possible. This will be followed by the opening of Designers in Residence in August - an exhibition showcasing the work of young designers at the beginning of their careers.

Finally, opening in December and running until March 2013 is Unexpected Pleasures: The Art and Design of Contemporary Jewellery. Celebrating current jewellery design, this exhibition will bring together important work from around the world, demonstrating the relationship between jewellery, art and design.

Groups of ten or more people visiting the Design Museum can take advantage of discounted admission rates.
