1940s weekend at Historic Dockyard Chatham

Date Posted: 09/08/2015

The Historic Dockyard Chatham in Kent will be filled with wartime period displays and entertainment this September, when the attraction goes back in time to the 1940s.

Salute to the ‘40s, which takes place on the 19th and 20th September, promises to be a nostalgic spectacle themed around the home front during World War Two.

The event will have all-day entertainment across three stages, re-enactors and vintage vehicles.

Groups will be able to experience what it is like to be in an air raid attack in one of the dockyard’s genuine air raid shelters, and 1940s’ civilian re-enactors will interact with visitors throughout the weekend.

Wartime cars, trucks, bikes and jeeps will add to the nostalgic feel and a Coming Home parade will take place on each day.
